SAILMONSTER

I have to say I was hoping we got some pictures and video of happy vets out with sailmonsters but haven't seen any yet.  Our day didn't turn out as planned either.  The weather was kind of crappy for our departure so we decided to make it happen another day.  However, we did touch a few veterans hearts.  A teacher from McIntosh school in Sarasota heard we were honoring vets and asked her students to make some cards to say thanks.  We didn't see them until Saturday.  She dropped them off for us at the SSS.  When  I opened the box I about lost it.  There were over a hundred cards hand made by children thanking veterans all with a sailing theme.  That was absolutely the highlight of my year.  What a touching gesture! I found a few veterans meandering around the SSS waiting for the weather to break and handed them a card with a handshake saying thank you.  It is amazing how appreciated that was.  We ended up at a BBQ with a few veterans and had a great time.  This 4th of July I am going to call all veterans up to the stage at the SSS and hand out the cards and show a well deserved appreciation for serving.  Being a veteran myself it is nice to see that in this world of craziness and financial hardships that a simple thank you still packs a major punch. Good stuff!  It is a wonderful thing to see what an impact this crazy little rum induced site is starting to do.  We have so many many wonderful sailors on this site that make the world a better place.  Thank you for being a part of Sailmonster!  I could be wrong but I see the relationships forming and a true sailing family being created with a collective power to do a lot of good across the globe.
