Bicycling, camping, sailing

I have been working hard lately to atone for an early life of goofing off! Some random nonsensical facts about myself- When I was about 10 my family bought a Sunfish with Yellow trading stamps. I once rode a single speed bike from Harry's Bar at Purdue University to Dallas Texas in ten days to win a 100 dollar bar bet. This last Tuesday I bought an O'Day daysailer 2 on a trailer for roadtrips. My wife is pretty, a good sailor and does not panic in bad weather. I think about sail boats alot. (It is a pleasant addiction) If I had the time, I would build a BIG shallow draft catamaran for my favorite skinny water in S.W. Florida. It would be about a 50 footer with a beam around 30. The centerboard would be between the hulls hinged under the mast so it could fold back in a grounding. The boat would be so simple that it would really be more of a high tech raft. The aux.propulsion would be 2 four stroke jet skis. The skis would plug into the aft end of each hull. When the boat was under sail, your friends could unplug the skis and go exploring or make a rum run. To keep windage and cg low I would have no cabin on the bridge just a large dome tent and figure someway to have a small fire pit.

currently O'Day 23 and Ski Supreme 19..Added an O'Day Daysailer 2 recently.

Hello Ross- How are ya? I REALLY wish I was sailing this weekend, but I am not. Don't know if you recall, but about late summer my business was hit by a freak flood- it was over four feet deep in the building. The clean up was much longer and intense than we expected and is just finishing up. As of late I have become a pale faced janitor kind of a guy-more in tune with a mop handle than a wisker pole- I've been a dullard of a sailor who has maintained sanity by reading your, Bonafide's, Danny's, Jeff's, Rumhead's and others posts. Thankyou. I should be back to normal routine late this month. Bianca and I would always be up for any get together and look forward to it. We will give you a shout shortly. Have a good weekend.

I remember about the flood, I just thought that you were done with that. I wish you were closer, I would muster up some help for you.

We look forward to having you back "home".  Give me a call, send me a note and we will get together.

Lance,

Thanks for the comment, The boat is a 1978 C&C Mega 30. It was designed as a trailerable race boat so it has a fairly narrow beem and a lifting bulb keel. It's a pretty quick boat and has been a lot of fun....especialy off the wind!

Love your "about me" section.  I think all sailors are either atoning for past goofing off or still goofing off, so you are definitely in good company around these parts.  Post us some pics of your boats, etc.

Rhonda, Thanks for the add, I needed it to read your bulletin. You are really pouring the sweat equity and good energy toward your business!! Fun that way isn't it? I think some of the lucky people are the ones who can just pour themselves into something completely without knowing the final outcome. Sometimes no guarantee leads to the best emotional and financial rewards! Wishing you well,  Lance

Sweat equity is definitely the phrase. I'm beat up. Have 3 more days towards that show and I'm booked pretty much through my running away to Flagler Beach for 3 weeks.

Hello Terry and Susan- Thank you for the greetings. I am a slow responder because I am technically challenged! You have a great selection of music. Are you both Florida natives?  Lance

Thank you, Lance. We know a bit about the technically challenging part. Terry is a Florida native - Susan has only been here for 29 years so let's call it "native by marriage"!

Hi Lance!  Thanks so much.  Sailmonster is rapidly turning into a big family.  Nice to see. Make sure you get out and sail for that full moon!

Hey Lance,

Good to see you here.  You'll have to post some pics from your adventures.  I sailed to Cayo Casta on a C&C 40 shortly after college with a group of freinds.  We stayed on the boat but spent the day on the beach there.  What a beautiful spot.  Then we went to Cabbage Key for burgers and beers the next day.
